Chairman of Quang Ninh Nguyen Duc Long has received a delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Mr. Tetsuji Goto, JICA Senior Advisor in Tokyo, on the occasion of the meeting of the Steering Board of the project on Technical Assistance to promote Green Growth in Ha Long Bay, sponsored by JICA.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Long affirmed that the relationship between Quang Ninh and Japan’s localities and organizations has been effectively developed over the years in the fields of economic development, environment improvement, education and training, and cultural exchanges contributing to strengthen the relation of Japan with Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh in particular.
In his talk, the Chairman emphasized the cooperation tie between Quang Ninh province and JICA since 1998 in the improvement of Halong bay’s environment. To date, the Green Growth Promotion in Ha Long Bay area project runs in the second stage. Thus, the Chairman wished that JICA and Shiga province would continue their cooperation with Quang Ninh so that the project could greatly contribute to the improvement of the Halong Bay’s environment once completed.
He also believed that through this project, tourists and young generations will get the message from Quang Ninh regarding the importance of the environmental protection.
Mr. Tesuji Goto, in turns, highly appreciated the active involvement and leadership of Quang Ninh’s government during the implementation of the project. He plegded that JICA will make the best efforts in the second stage of the project, focusing on proposing policies and measures to educating young generations in the environmental protection.
