On Dec, 22, Quang Ninh’s Chairman Nguyen Duc Long led an inspection team to check the preparations for the inauguration of a series of the key transport projects, including Hon Gai International Passenger Port; Van Don International Airport, and technical opening of the Ha Long- Van Don expressway, which are planned to happen on Dec 30.
These three three major projects are invested in form of PPP (Public - Private Partner). Of which, Hon Gai International Passenger Port, located on the Cua Luc river is a PPP project between Sun Group and Quang Ninh province. It was designed to be able to receive the world’s most modern cruise ships. In late November of this year, the port received the first cruise ships, bringing thousands of foreign tourists to the Ha Long Bay World Heritage site.
The Ha Long-Van Don highway connecting with the Hanoi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic triangle, helping spur socio-economic development of the province and the northern key economic zone. It has a total investment of around 14 trillion VND. To date, all the preparations is ready for the technical opening ceremony.
The Van Don international airport, the first-ever private airport project in Vietnam, will receive the first flight on Dec 30, 2018. The Vietnam Airlines offically launched their flights between Ho Chi Minh city to Quang Ninh via Van Don International Airport and tickets have been sold on their website, while VietJet Air will operate flights in Mid-Jan, 2019.
Listening to the report by investors on the preparations for the inauguration of these three key transport projects, Chairman Nguyen Duc Long highly appreciated great efforts of the investors to ensure the deadline.
He stressed that these key transport projects plays a vital role, marking the success of Quang Ninh in using all the capital sources to develop transport infrastructure.
The operation of the Van Don International Airport, Hon Gai International Passenger Port and Ha Long -Van Don expressway at the same time is expected to contribute to the development of not only Quang Ninh but also create a development motivation of the North and the whole Vietnam. Thus, he requested the investors to rapidly fulfil the last components of the projects and well prepare to get ready for this important event.
