“In its tourism development strategy Quang Ninh pays much attention to the British market and hopes to learn from the UK’s experiences in developing sustainable tourism and green tourism”, said Quang Ninh’s Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Thu Thuy at a tourism promotion programme held in London on May 14.
In the upcoming time, Quang Ninh will continue collaborating with British organizations, associations and enterprises to tailor high-quality tourism products to meet the demand of the British tourists.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Tran Ngoc An affirmed that in the recent years, Quang Ninh has gained great achievements in economic and tourism development, especially breakthrough in infrastructure, offering the tourists with favourable conditions to visit the Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage Site.
Besides Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh is also home to many tourism attractions with attractive marine tourism routes, namely Bai Tu Long Bay, Tuan Chau island, Quan Lan, Co To islands, Yen Tu mountain and Tra Co beach, the Ambassador noted.
During the event, Director of the Quang Ninh Tourism Department introduced to the participants about Quang Ninh’s tourism products, including sea, cultural, spiritual and border tourism. He also stated that in the recent years, the province has lured a great number of tourism and infrastructure projects which have helped to better serve the tourists to Quang Ninh.
Currently, the operation of the key transport projects such as Van Don International Airport, Ha Long International Cruise Port and Hai Phong-Ha Long expressway has made Quang Ninh more accessible to international tourists, the Director added.
Director of the UK’s Responsible Travel Richard Skinner recommended some proposals that may help foster sustainable development of Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh in particular. Accordingly, he suggested that Quang Ninh should focus on developing community-based tourism to ensure sustainable development and bring benefits to locals.
