With a coastline of over 250 km long and water surface of over 6,100 square kilometers, Quang Ninh is considered as a golden place for diversifying tourism services. Based on its advantages, the province has sketched out new directions for tourism development, one of them is sports tourism. However, the investment is incommensurate with its potentials so the sports tourism is growing inefficiently.
Recently, Quang Ninh was chosen to host a series of international sports events like: the Tuan Chau - Ha Long women beach volleyball; Off-Road car racing tournaments and the Asian Chess Championship, etc.

Large businesses have invested in infrastructure and water sports complexes namely, Netherlands Water Park in Dong Trieu Town, Typhoon Water Park in Sunworld Ha Long Complex, Co To Park; the water park of Quang Ninh Cultural Palace for Children and Youth, which are luring an increasing number of tourists and local residents to enjoy water sports, especially in the summer, thus, contributing to boosting the growth of tourism.
Hai Tourism and Water Sports Joint Stock Company is a pioneering company providing facilities for water sports. Its CEO, Nguyen Duc Hai shared that along with its business, the company has joined hands with other units to co-organize sports events like kayaking, surfing in permitted areas. However the current permitted areas are quite limited and cannot meet the rising demand of tourists.
The Sport tourism is considered as a unique and attractive tourism product in Quang Ninh. In order to boost the sports tourism, functional agencies should propose to widen the permitted operational areas; tighten safety rules; supervise environmental impacts; offering incentives to attract investors…On the other hand, enterprises who run business in sports tourism need to have a comprehensive preparation from transportation means, accommodation to food and beverages services…These measures are believed to promote advantages of the sports tourism in Quang Ninh.
