In recent years, Quang Ninh has recognized the values of cultural heritages. Accordingly, synchronous investment in conservation and promotion contributed significantly to the promotion and development of tourism in the province.
Effective investment
The renovation and restoration of relics in recent years has shown the great efforts of organizations and enterprises in attracting investments into the province, helping to effectively tap all the tourism potential and allure an increasing number of visitors to Quang Ninh.
The Tran dynasty Special National Relics in Dong Trieu town is a case in point. With 14 relics located in the communes of An Sinh, Trang An, Thuy An, Binh Khe, it consists of many well-known attractions, such as: An Sinh, Ngoa Van temples, Quynh Lam pagoda, Ho Thien lake, etc. These sites imprinted historic, cultural and achitectural values of the Tran dynasty – the most successful dynasty in national history. Consequently, conservation associated with tourism development has been paid special attention by the Dong Trieu Town People’s Committee with many practical tasks, such as: Promoting the propaganda and communication to the locals within the district; mobilizing the locals to participate in preservation and conservation of the relics; organizing scientific research activities to compile management documentation in order to preserve the relics’ value in accordance with the provisions of law.
Another relic that has been promoted in association with tourism development is the Yen Tu Hisoric relic in Uong Bi city. Not only the original relics but also the Center for Culture, Festival Organization and Services has been developed into the center for Vietnam Buddist Culture. Currently, visitors coming to Yen Yu relic have chances to experience the new space with a number of building components, including the car park, cable system and particularly, the Truc Lam Culture Center, a green spiritual space. Notably, a 5-star resort, Truc Lam palace and Tran Nhan Tong museum will be put into use in the upcoming time.
A part from the Tran Dynasty Special National Relics in Dong Trieu town and Yen Tu Hisoric relic in Uong Bi city, the other relics like Cua Ong temple in Cam Pha city, Ba Vang pagoda in Uong Bi, Cai Bau pagoda in Van Do district and Dong Phuc pagoda in Quang Yen town have been invested with large capital sources, making highlights of Quang Ninh tourism to become a magnet destination of both domestic and international tourists.
Conservation for sustainble development.
Over the years, the culture sector and researchers have devoted much efforts to researching, collecting and refining timely valuable tangible and intangible cultural values of the province, contributing positively to conservation work, building an advanced culture, rich national identity. Over the past years, the preservation and restoration of traditional folk festivals has become more effective. Of which, many festivals attracted a great number of locals and visitors, such as: the worship house Dam Ha, Lang Da village, Luc Na communal house... Most of the projects and scientific topics on cultural heritage have been implemented; precious materials in the field of intangible cultural heritages are surveyed, timely collected contributing to preserving the heritages. Through the research, researchers also proposed solutions to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritages to improve the effectiveness of tourism development in the localities provincewide.
It can be seen that, effectively promotion of the values of the culrural heritages not only helps to conserve the cultural values and traditional history of the localities but also develop the cultural heritages into attractive destinations, greatly contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh.
