Quang Ninh contestant named in the final round of Sao Mai Singing Contest

Nguyen Vu Ha Giang, one of the top 15 selected winners across the country, participated in the final round of the Sao Mai singing contest 2019, which took place from Mar. 23 at FLC Ha Long Complex, Quang Ninh provinvce.

As a student of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Nguyen Vu Ha Giang brought home the golden prize at the Asian Arts Festival held in Singapore in 2017 and won the title of Miss Beauty at the Shinning Beauty Contest by Beauty Pageants Viet Nam in 2018. She showed her part in the folk music category with the song “Mien Non Nuoc” by Huynh Tu on Mar. 23, and the next song will be shown on Mar. 31

This year’s competition drew the participation of contestants at the age of 17-27 nationwide and abroad.

The round of local elections took place in three regions. The southern region’s round was held from January 16-20 in HCMC; the contest of the Central Highlands region was from January 24-27 in Da Nang city; and the competition of the northern region was organized from January 18-22 in Hanoi.

The final night will be broadcast on VTV1 chanel on April 14. The winner of the contest will represent Vietnam in the ABU Television Song Contest, held annually by the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

Sao Mai singning contest, the cradle of many Vietnamese singing talents and first conceived as the National Television Singing Festival, has been held every two years since 1997. This is an occasion for young, talented singers to show their skills in categories of folk-singing, opera, pop, rock. The contest is regarded as one of the biggest national music contests.
