Quang Ninh’s delegation led by Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Thu Thuy, along with representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and localities owning world heritage sites, have attended in the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee, which takes place from June 30 to July 10 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
At the session, a report was presented to the delegates regarding the work that have been done based on the decision of the previous session of the World Heritage Committee. The committee also examines the state of conservation of 163 inscribed world heritage sites and 102 sites on the list of World Heritage in Danger; reviews 38 nomination documents to consider for inscribing in the world heritage list including 5 natural heritages, 31 cultural heritages, 2 mixed heritages ....
Within the session, the delegation of Quang Ninh met with the leaders of the World Heritage Center, Secretariat of the World Heritage Committee and consutltants of UNESCO to thank them for their consultancy and support to Quang Ninh province in the “Accessing the effectiveness management of the Halong Bay World Heritage Site” project.
Particularly, the delegation had a working session with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in order to ask for their consultancy and technical advices to manage the environment and sustainable tourism on Ha Long bay.
