On Dec.22, in Ha Long city, Chairman of QNPPC Nguyen Duc Long had a meeting with Mr. Marc Stordiau, Managing Director of Rent A Port Company regarding environmental restortion project for Ha Long Bay.
At the meeting, a represtative of Rent A Port briefted the report on preliminary study of Halong Bay's environment. The report mentioned waste collection and treatment processon the bay. Accordingly, the project proposes a good system to treat waste water from coal mining activities before running into the bay. As planned, a comprehensive report will be presented in March, 2016.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Long highly appreciated the preliminary study of the project. He affirmed that this project is one of the outcome of the meeting visitof Belgian SenatePresident to Halong Bay in November, 2015.
The operation of the project would help Quang Ninh province deal with the conflict between industrial development and tourism ensuring the sustainability of the Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage site.
Due to the important of the project, Quang Ninh province wishes to continue to receive ODA fromthat Belgian Government and other European governments so that the project could be soon in reality.
