Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised Quang Ninh, along with other ministries, agencies and localities nationwide, for their great efforts in fulfilling the six-month socio-economic development tasks, especailly in improving invetsment climate, during a teleconference between the government and localities on July 2.
At the conference, leaders of ministries, sectors, agencies and localtities not only had discussions about the socio-economic tasks for the first six months but also raised problems and proposed measures to be undertaken for the remaining months of the year.
At the conference, Quang Ninh’s Chairman Nguyen Duc Long made a report on the province’s socio-economic perfromance in the first half of 2018. Accordingly, Quang Ninh’s economy enjoyed encouraging growth. Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first half of 2018 was estimated to increase by 10.16% over the same period last year, the six month highest increase since 2012.
The total amount of tourist arrivals was 7.5 million, and the rate of poor households decreased by 1.95%. Remarkably, some of the key transport projects, including Bach Dang Bridge, Ha Long-Van Don expressway, etc are at burst of speed.
The economic structure shifts to the increasing of the service proportion. In term of industrial production target, Coal sector continues to see a sharp growth. The State budget collection was estimated to gain nearly VND 21,000 billion.
Concluding the conference, the Prime Minister strongly affirmed that in the context of various difficulties, this results reflects the efforts of the whole political system, the community of enterprises and people across the nation, which needs to be enhanced in the upcoming time.
Related to the tasks for the remaining months, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc directed the ministries, sectors, agencies and localities to continue their renovation, creativeness and determination to synchronously carry out robust measures to foster socio-economic development.
In his speech, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc focused on the issues to be tackled in the last six months, including administrative procedure reform, improvement of the business and investment environment, rasing competetiveness of the businesses, and ensuring safe society and security for the people, etc.
Each organizations and individual must change their thinking and actions while carrying out their tasks; inspection must be strengthened. Ministries, agencies and localities at all levels must continue following the target and duties on the socio-economic growth in the second half of 2018, and conduct them with specific issues, he said.
