With its advantage of owning Ha Long Bay – the World Natural Heritage, Quang Ninh has proved the right tourism development strategy. Over the years, Quang Ninh is one of the provinces of Vietnam effectively implementing tourism promotion and advertisement, especially in Ha Long Bay tourism.
In order to promote the image of Ha Long Bay, Ha Long Bay Management Board has actively coordinated with central and local media stations and newspapers to provide specialized pages and columns on heritage and guide press agencies, national and international correspondents to make films and reports on Ha Long Bay, such as Heritage Magazine, Vietnam Television, Labor Newspaper, People’s Television, the Department of International Cooperation, Photo Tour, Heritage Club etc.
Many cultural and tourism programs, events between Quang Ninh Province and other localities nationwide, members of the Heritage Triangle (Quang Ninh, Vietnam – Luang Prabang, Laos – Udon Thani, Thailand), East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum (EATOF), ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Conference and key international tourism markets etc have been actively reported by national and international press agencies and televisions.
Through media and press, the image of Ha Long Bay has been broadcasted to domestic and international communities. Ha Long Bay became one of 7 Natural Wonders of the World in the vote launched by New7wonders organization has shown the active role of press to Quang Ninh tourism, with great contribution of Youth Newspaper, Vietnam Television and many press agencies across the country.
Particularly, thanks to active participation of the press and media, the Visit Vietnam Year 2018 Ha Long – Quang Ninh has become an outstanding highlight for Quang Ninh, Vietnam, thereby spreading to regional and international tourism communities.
Along with the Code of Conduct for tourists by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Ninh has issued tourism Code of Conduct titled “Ha Long Smile Code of Conduct”. Thanks to the active popularization of press agencies, Vietnam Television, Quang Ninh Radio & Television and Quang Ninh Newspaper (now known as Quang Ninh Media Group), the contents of the Codes of Conduct have been widely disseminated to tourists, tourism enterprises and the community, thus raising awareness of civilized behavior and heritage protection.
Currently, the information is more accessible; however, the tourism sector also faces new challenges and opportunities to prove its role. The main task of the press is to convey right messages with a big impact on attracting tourists as well as raising people’s awareness of preserving indigenous cultures.
