President Truong Tan Sang has thanked Kazakh war veteran Issa Bisanov for helping train Vietnamese air defence soldiers during the past anti-US war.
The support and assistance from him and other international friends made a significant contribution to Vietnam’s victory of the struggle for national liberation, Sang told his guest at a reception in Hanoi on July 8.
He confirmed that the Vietnamese Party, Government and people always bear in mind the contributions made by Kazakhstan’s veterans.
For his part, Bisanov said he was happy at returning to Vietnam after near 50 years. He said he and his comrades admire the strong spirit of the Vietnamese people and soldiers during the war against the US.
He spoke highly of the achievements Vietnam has made in all areas and said he always keeps in his mind the image of an undaunted Vietnam during wartime, and its dynamism and creativity in national construction.
