On Mar. 3, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung chaired a meeting regarding the proposal of establishing Departments of Tourism in some particular localities.
This proposal is refered to the paricular criteria and protetial of the provinces, such as: home to the world natural or cultural heritage sites; having oustanding advantages for tourism development. In conclusion of the meeting PM Nguyen Tan Dung agreed with the establishment of the Department of Tourism in 11 provinces and cities nationwide including Quang Ninh.
According to statistics released by the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of tourist arrivals to Quang Ninh in 2015 reached over VND 7.7 million, of which international arrivals was 2.75 mln; number of tourists staying over night was 3.8 mln. The total tourism revenue in 2015 was VND 6,500 bln.
