People-to-people diplomacy contributes to the synergy of Vietnam’s foreign affairs

The Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations held a conference in Hanoi on January 16 to review the work on people-to-people diplomacy in 2022 and deploy tasks for 2023.

An overview of the conference

In 2022, thoroughly grasping the foreign policy guidelines of the 13th National Party Congress and the content of the Secretariat’s Directive 12-CT/TW, dated January 5, 2022, on strengthening the Party's leadership, improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation, the Fatherland Front, mass organisations and people’s organisations continued to synchronously deploy people-to-people diplomacy activities, actively contributing to the overall results in the country’s foreign affairs.

On behalf of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Central Committee cum Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Bui Minh Hoai emphasised that people-to-people diplomacy is one of the three pillars, together with party diplomacy and state diplomacy, creating the synergy of Vietnam's foreign policy.

She also suggested that departments, ministries, sectors and localities continue to ensure the leadership of the Party and the State's management on people-to-people diplomacy; pay attention to coordination and creating favourable conditions and mechanisms for people-to-people diplomacy, with a focus on building and fostering a contingent of qualified and capable staff to meet the needs and requirements in the new situation.

At the conference, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in people-to-people diplomacy in 2022 and presented the “For the cause of people-to-people diplomacy” medal to outstanding individuals.
