Over VND45.5 billion to upgrade Ban Sen wharf

Functional agencies and constructors is speeding up the project to upgrade the wharf of Ban Sen on Ban Sen island, Van Don district.

The project aims to meet locals and tourists’ increasing demands for travelling and transporting goods, contributing to the economic development of the island.

The new wharf is designed to be 30 meters in length, 10 meter in width and enables to receive 200-seat passenger ships and 200-ton cargo ones.

The constructor, Dai An Construction and Investment JSC, has mobilized equipment and workers to foster the progress of the project. Working components have reached from 60 to 95 percent of the total workload.

Ban Sen wharf is expected to open to traffic in December, 2019.

Located on Van Don Island district, the most populated and most developed island in Bai Tu Long Bay, Ban Sen has an area of around 139km2, including 72km2 of floating land, the rest of Ban Sen is water surface and rocky islands.

Comparing to other communes of Van Don Island, Ban Sen is the closest island to central of Van Don Island district. It takes about 1 hour to get to Ban Sen island by boat, or few tens of minutes by speed boat. This is a potential destination for tourists to discover other spectacular landscapes of Bai Tu Long Bay destinations.
