According to Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, during the five-day holidays which lasted from April 27 to celebrate Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, the province welcomed over 620,000 tourist arrivals, representing a year-on-year rise of 18 percent.
Notably, the number of foreign arrivals coming from more than 70 countries and territories, mainly the Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan… was estimated at 41,720 while the number of tourists who stayed over night was over 54,000.
Ha Long Bay saw an increase of 20 percent with 100.952 tourist arrivals over the same period last year. Of which, the number of foreign arrivals to the bay was 40,926.
Apart from Ha Long city, Uong Bi city and Co To town also served crowds of tourists, with 35.935 and 33.200 arrivals, respectively.
The number of visitors traveling through Mong Cai international border gate reached about 18,905 arrivals meanwhile Van Don International Airport greeted 14 flights with 2.473 visitors to Quang Ninh.
Functional authorities have closely coordinated with localities and travel companies to inspect tourism activities and services with the aim of ensuring security, safety, environmental sanitation, food hygiene for tourists during the holidays.
