Hundred thousands of students in Quang Ninh province went back to school and attended the opening ceremony for the new academic year on September 5. This is considered the province’s great efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the ceremony at the high school of Hon Gai in Ha Long city, the provincial Party Secretary, Nguyen Xuan Ky, highlighted the province’s efforts to ensure safety for local people in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak ravaging a large number of cities and provinces across the country. Many localities have closed schools due to rising COVID-19 cases and millions of students have to attende online opening ceremonies.
“Quang Ninh province has paid special attention to the education and training sector, especially through the investment in facilities in both central areas and disadvantaged ones and priority policies for students of ethnic minority groups and those living in the difficult circumstances in remote, border and island areas”, he said.
Underlining the fact that the 2021-22 academic year came amid unpredictable risks from the pandemic, he asked the education and training sector as well as each teacher and student to overcome difficulties to implement the dual goals of pandemic prevention and control and fulfilling the academic yearly target.
