On Dec. 18, 2015, Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee (QNPPC) issued the Decision No 4063/QD-UBND regarding the approval, reajustment and inclusion of ports, tourist wharves receiving visitors to Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay into the planning of the domestic marine transport development of Quang Ninh province.
As a result, Bai Chay Tourist Wharf will be excluded in the planning of the ports and tourist wharves system; the operation of this wharf will be stopped in Jan, 1st 2016. Since then, all tourist boats transporting visitors to Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay will be moved to Tuan Chau Wharf.
According to the Decision No 3456 dated Sept, 25th 2015 issued by the Ministry of Transport, Tuan Chau Wharf is also allowed to receive tourist boats to Cat Ba and international cruises.
