On July 19, at Kinh Bac Cultural Center ( in Bac Ninh province), the Central Steering Committee for Housing policy and real estate market has held a national conference to review the housing assistance program under the decision No 167/2008/QĐ-TTg by the PM. The conference was chaired by the PM Nguyen Tan Dung.
Speaking at the National conference, all delegates confirmed that this is the most effective housing assistance program since the country started its renovation process. The program has helped more than 507,140 households in 62 poorest districts to have accommodation. Almost half of them (around 224,000) are Khmer ethnic people.
In Quang Ninh, the 167 program has been actively and creatively implemented. The whole political system involved in the program. Accordingly, by the end of 2010, 3,800 poor households had accommodation. The total investment capital is over VND 90 bln. With these achievements, one organization and two individuals were awarded the certificates of merits by the Government, including the Chairman of QNPPC Nguyen Van Doc; the Head of the Materials and Housing Management Division ( under the Construction Department) and Tien Yen District People's Committee. Speaking at the conference, the Prime Minister stated that the Housing assistance program is a highlight in the country construction, serving the industrialization and modernization process and sustainable national development.
