Number of enterprises entering and resuming operation soars 46.2 percent in two months
The number of newly established enterprises and enterprises resuming operation increased by 46.2 percent in the first two months of this year, as announced by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on February 28.
According to the GSO, the business activities were quiet in February 2022 due to the Lunar New Year holiday.
Nearly 7,300 enterprises were established in February with total registered capital of 85.2 trillion VND and a total of 72,600 registered workers, down 44 percent in the number of enterprises, down 55.7 percent in registered capital and down 5.8 percent in the number of workers compared to January 2022. The figures decreased by 9 percent and 53 percent in terms of number of enterprises and registered capital, respectively, but rose by 27 percent in number of workers compared to the same period in 2021.
In the two-month period, Vietnam saw nearly 20,300 newly established enterprises with total registered capital of 277.6 trillion VND and a total of nearly 149,700 registered employees, an increase of 11.9 percent in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 17.1 percent in the registered capital and a decrease of 13.4 percent in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.
The number of enterprises temporarily suspending operation in the first two months of the year was 32,700 enterprises (up 51 percent over the same period last year), while 8,900 enterprises stopped operation pending for dissolution procedures (up 6 percent) and nearly 3,300 enterprises completed dissolution procedures (down 9 percent).
