Within the framework of the second North Korea-US summit held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Feb.27, the executive delegation of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) visited the Ha Long Bay world natural heritage site.
The delegation consisted of Vice Chairman of the Party Committee cum Head of Foreign Affairs Department Ri Su Yong, Vice Chairman of the Party Committee cum Head of Organization Department Kim Pyong Hae and Vice Chairman of the Party Committee cum Head of Economy Department O Su Yong.
They were warmly welcomed by Quang Ninh leaders including Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Van Doc, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long and Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee.
At the reception, the Party Secretary Nguyen Van Doc officially informed North Korean officials of Quang Ninh’s potentials and strengths, especially in field of tourism, and its recent socio-economic development.
In 2018, Quang Ninh was listed as the country’s five leading provinces which had the highest state budget revenues in the provincial area. The province greeted more than 12 million tourist arrivals including 5.2 million interntional ones, he said.
The leader of Quang Ninh province also reminded these visitors of the former WPK Chairman Kim II-sung's visit to Ha Long Bay in November 1964, the executive delegation of Kim II-sung Youth Union in 2015, the Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2018, etc.
On behalf of the delegation, Vice Chairman of the Party Committee cum Head of Foreign Affairs Department Ri Su Yong expressed his great thanks for the province’s warm reception.
It’s really advantageous of Quang Ninh to be home to Ha Long Bay, an ideal and attractive destination, he highlighted.
The delegation had lunch on a cruise on the bay and left Ha Long city at 1.30 pm on the same day for Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province.
