Quang Ninh is considered as the localtity which has the best transport infrastructure in Vietnam with modern international airport, highways and seaport systems. To continue creating breakthroughs for future development, Quang Ninh is focusing on expanding urban development space and implementing new transport infrastructure, greatly striving to become a city under the Central Government.
Recently, Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Standing Committee reviewed the report regarding the proposal of merging Ha Long City and Hoanh Bo District. The new area to be called Ha Long City will have the largest natural land and administrative units in the country, contributing to creating a new driving force and improving regional linkage.
In parrallel with the implementation of preparation for merging, these two administrations units Quang Ninh made investment plans for transport projects such as Cua Luc Bridge No.1, No.2 and No.3 connecting Ha Long City and Hoanh Bo District. These projects not only ensure smooth connection between the two areas after being merged, but also reduce traffic load for Bai Chay Bridge and Bang Bridge.
With such new transport infrastructure, such as Hai Phong – Ha Long – Van Don, a 10 lane road linking Ha Long City and future Van Don – Mong Cai Highway has created favorable conditions to boost the socio-economic development of the province.
Quang Ninh is considering the investment of a riverside route linking Ha Long – Hai Phong Highway with Dong Trieu Town. The 47.5 km long road which has 10 lanes and the maxium speed at 100km/h is expected to be complete in 2021 with a total investment of nearly 4 tril.VND. Once operational, the route will play an important role in attracting domestic and international investment into the localities of Uong Bi, Quang Yen and Dong Trieu.
The carefully selected and invested transport infrastructure projects have timely met the province’s development plan in each period, creating a new breakthrough as well as new face for Quang Ninh’s modern, convenient, efficient and safe transport infrastructure, ensuring the regionally and globally smooth linkage.
