The Netherlands is willing to share its experience, technology and resources in the fields that Vietnam needs, said Prime Minister Mark Rutte at a reception for Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on September 22.
Welcoming Hai’s visit, Rutte spoke highly of fine cooperative relations between the two countries in many areas, especially singling out the strategic partnership framework on climate change and water management (October 2010) and agriculture (June 2014).
He expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s development achievements and said the two countries need to boost cooperation on a number of fronts, primarily trade and investment.
For his part, Hai said he hopes the two sides will obtain important results from their inter-governmental committee meeting on climate change and water management during his current visit.
He briefed his host on a wide range of cultural exchanges and trade and investment promotion activities in The Hague and Amsterdam as part of the Vietnam Days in the Netherlands to be launched on this occasion.
He expressed his desire that the Dutch Government and Prime Minister himself will strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in specific areas, including climate change, water management, and agriculture.
He proposed that the Netherlands support Vietnam with programmes like infrastructure development assistance, the Netherlands Initiative for Capacity development in Higher Education (NICHE), and promote cooperation within the framework of the Government-to-Government (G2G), business-to-business (B2B), and among their universities and institutes.
Earlier, Hai and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met with representatives of the Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) community there.
