National online meeting on nCoV prevention and control

On Feb 1st, Deputy Prime Minister, cum head of steering committee on prevention of acute respiratory disease caused by the novel corona virus (nCoV), presided over a national online meeting with ministries, departments, and localities to carry out disease prevention and control. Quang Ninh’s Chairman, Nguyen Van Thang, attended the meeting.

To date, Quang Ninh has recorded no cases positive to nCoV. The province has implemented a number of measures to prevent the disease, focusing on propaganda activities to help locals get more understanding about the threat and preventive measures in line with recommendation of the Ministry of Health. Medical supplies were also supplemented to prevent the spread of corona virus, including 850,000 3-layer face masks, more than 2,000 N95 masks, and 15,000 protective clothing...

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Vu Duc Dam, noted that provinces and cities, where foreign workers, especially Chinese people, are working, need to have detailed plans of supervising laborers’ health; closely work with local medical institutions to check and measure body temperature at least twice a day, thus promptly detecting the disease symptoms, handling cases, and limiting the outbreak. Provinces and cities should spray disinfectants in schools and public places.

Besides, it is necessary to restrict the organization of festivals. In case of on-going festivals, disease prevention must be ensured. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that nCoV prevention and control was an international issue so disease prevention at border gates, airports, railway stations… must be enhanced.
