Within a working visit in Quang Ninh, on August 24th, a mission delegation of the Politiburo led by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Vice-Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA), member of the Politiburo, and Secretary of the Central Party Committee made a field inspection to the planned location of Van Don airport at Doan Ket Commune and worked with the Van Don District Party Committee.
The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Pham Minh Chinh – member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee; Mrs. Do Thi Hong – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Quang Ninh’s NA Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hien – Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Council; Mrs. Vu Thi Thu Thuy- Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee; and leaders of the related departments and sectors.
At the meeting, the NA’s Vice-Chairwoman Ngan listened to the presentation made by the Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Pham Minh Chinh regarding the project to build Van Don special administrative-economic zone to experimentalize a synchronous and comprehensive rennovation and reform in terms of mechanism, policies, administrative organization, direction and management methods. This project is expected to directly contribute to the development of Quang Ninh into a modern industrial and service province, an international tourism center, enhancing the international economic competitiveness. Mr. Doan Van Chinh- Secretary of the District Party Committee has also made a report to the delegation introducing an overview of Van Don’s potentials and advantages for socio-economic development.
For her part, Vice Chairwoman Ngan hightly appreciated great efforts that Quang Ninh in general and Van Don district in particular have gained in recent years. She also strongly agreed with the Quang Ninh’s proposal to build the Van Don special administrative and economic zone. She also revealed that this proposal is now under the consideration of the NA’s Standing Committee.
Ngan suggested that during the construction implementation of Van Don administrative and economic zone, Quang Ninh should pay attention to a number of issues, namely development of a master planning, job creation for local people, enhancing training human for a sustainable development. At the same time, Quang Ninh needs to promote the propaganda about this project to the local people. Thus, it is very necessary to have active involement of the whole political system of Van Don distric in particular as well as Quang Ninh province in general.
