The Vice chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Do Thong on May 28 chaired a meeting with the Italy-Thailand Public Development Company to discuss about the Ha Long - Mong Cai Highway Construction Project.
With the total length of 151.5 kilometers, the highway will be built with 6 lanes and designed speed of 120km per hour. There will be 17 big bridges, 42 medium bridges and 28 flyovers along the highway. The total estimated cost is US$ 1.5 billion.
This project is included in the important program directed and supervised by Quang Ninh People’s Committee, Ministry of Transport and the Government. It is also unified by Ministries and reported to the Government for getting for construction approval of a specific mechanism in which charging is higher for the current regulations, investors may decide to charge rates for each period to ensure returning the capital and exploited land budget will create two road sides and assists for site clearance compensation from the State budget.
The Vice Chairman Do Thong stressed that after completion, this highway would connect perfectly the highway system Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh (highway connection between Hanoi - Hai Phong and Noi Bai - Ha Long - Mong Cai highway) and shorten the traffic distance among Ha Noi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, through Mong Cai international border gate with ports to create favorable conditions for economic development for key economic sectors.
The ITD Chairman, Mr. Premchai Karnasuta, showed his deep interest in the project and asked Quang Ninh authorities for direct help with their pre-investment surveys.
Also at the meeting, Quang Ninh PPC and ITD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at furthering joint cooperation in implementing the project.
According to the MOU, ITD will send a staff to Quang Ninh province for doing pre-investment research and the project proposal profile will be completed by September 30, 2012./.
