MoU on water environment improvement for Halong Bay

On Oct. 2, in Ha Long city, a ceremony was held to sign a MoU between Quang Ninh Dpartment of Natural Resources and , Seiwa Denko, and Codai Companies (Japan) regarding the implemetation of the project on “Improving water environment by applying an independent waste water treatment system skiping collection and mixing process on Ha Long Bay- world natural heritage”. The ceremony was attended by the Standing Vice-Chairman of QNPPC Do Thong.

The aim of the project is to apply Japanese safe and modern waste water treatment system that is appropriate for the environment and culture of Vietnam; to introduce and apply a system of bio-toilet at public areas and tourism sites to improve water environment, thereby contributing to raise the local people’s awareness in environmental protection on Ha Long bay.

The project implementation will be regarded as the base to apply largerly  other new technologies appliance in order to protect the environment of Quang Ninh in general and Ha Long Bay in particular.
Under the MoU, Seiwa Denko and Chodai Company will study the current conditions of Quang Ninh’s infrastructure, water drainage and treatment, and then evalutate its impacts to the community and environment in the province.

As reported, the project has an estimated investment value of 500,000 USD under ODA of the Japanese government and its implementation duration is from Oct, 2013 to Feb, 2014.
