The movement against plastic waste has been implemented by many businesses, especially tourism businesses. This not only contributes to protecting the environment with the community, but also has helped the enterprises themselves to impress customers with their beautiful and civilized image.
So far, many hotels in Ha Long City have gradually replaced disposable plastic products with environmentally friendly materials, thereby building green hotels leaving both domestic and international tourists much impression when they visit the city.
Tom Pieter Van Tuijl, General Manager of FLC Ha Long Grand Hotel, said that being aware of the vital role of fighting against plastic waste, they have replaced the single-use plastic products with biodegradable and environmentally friendly ones. "We always determine that this is also our responsibility to contribute to the sustainable tourism development of Quang Ninh province", added he.
Muong Thanh Quang Ninh Hotel is also one of the units that actively involved in limiting plastic waste. Disposable plastic items such as water bottles, laundry bags, trash bags containers, are no longer used in not only in the bar area but also in all the rooms of the hotel.
In order to effectively solving the problem related to plastic waste, and raising people's awareness of limiting plastic waste, Quang Ninh Department of Industry and Trade has called for organizations, businesses, supermarkets, restaurants, and hotels in the province to join hands in the movement. 32 units as enterprises producing OCOP products, restaurants, hotels, distributors and packaging producers had signed not to use plastic products.
With the orientation of developing tourism associated with green growth, Quang Ninh tourism has emboldened hotels and accommodation establishments within the province to implement the action program framework on the application of the ASEAN Green Hotel standard, targetting at sustainable tourism development, and building a safe, friendly Quang Ninh to attract domestic and international tourists.
