Mieu Ong-Mieu Ba Festival 2017 kicks off

On Mar. 28 (the 1st day of the Lunar March), the Mieu Ong- Mieu Ba festival 2017 officially opened at Nam Son commune, Ba Che district.

The opening ceremony of Mieu Ong Mieu Ba Festival 2017 drew a great number of locals and visitors provincewide. It also featured a drum performance by Quang Ninh troupe's artists and Ba Che district.

During the festival,many activities were held, including traditional rituals and folk games.

The Mieu Ong Mieu ba festival is annualy held to commemorate the heroes'merit of defeating the aggressors and defending the country.

Mieu Ong and Mieu Ba are located in Nam Son commune, opposite to the banks of Ba Che river, approximately 1km from Ba Che bridge. Mieu Ba worships the princess of forest (Mau Thuong Ngan). According to folklore, she is the soul of mountains and rivers. Like many places in the mountainous and northern plain, in Quang Ninh, Mau Thuong Ngan is worshiped in many places, alone or together with the others in the temples and pagodas but this is the only temple in the estuary and ranked as provincial relics in Ba Che. On June 23rd, 2013, Mieu Ong and Mieu Ba were recognized as Provincial Historical  relics and in 2014, the province has approved historic zone planning with an area of ​​5 hectares, including Mieu Ong, Mieu Ba, some other pagodas and items. In the same year, Mieu Ba monuments was embellished, completed and put into use with an area of ​​200m2. In 2015, Mieu Ong was started reconstruction on old foundation with a total area of ​​500m2, so far the work has been completed.
