On Sept 22, in Ha Long city, QNPC held a meeting of the Official Supporting Committee of Ha Long Bay regarding voting for Ha Long Bay as one of the new seven wonders of the world in the sprint stage. The meeting was directed by Mr Nguyen Van Doc, chairman of the PPC and chaired by vice-chairwoman of the PPC Vu Thi Thu Thuy.
The campaign of voting for the seven new natural wonders of the world has been launched by the NewOpenWorld organization on the Internet from August, 2007 to November, 2011 including 3 stages. After over 3 years of operation, the campaign achieved the interest of people in the country and international community, especially gained active involvement of the Ministries and departments and sectors from central to local levels.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Nguyen Van Doc acknowledged and praised the effort of the Official Supporting Committee of Ha Long Bay in the past years. He stressed that the voting campaign is now in the crucial stage. He requested the Ha Long Bay Management Department to be the leading agency to collaborate with other member provincial departments of the Committee to work with the Central Steering Committee to mobilize people in the nationwide to vote for Ha Long Bay.
To conclude the meeting, Mrs Vu Thi Thu Thuy emphasized the importance of each vote for Ha Long Bay in this stage. She also requested the media to promote the voting propaganda for Ha Long Bay. Additionally, the vice-chairwoman proposed that in order to gain the largest quantity of votes, the committee needs to organize four voting points in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang and Can Tho city.
