123 organizations and individuals donated over VND 700 million to the Quang Ninh’s Children Sponsorship at the meeting held this morning.
The Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Vu Thi Thu Thuy grants bikes to children whose schools are at least 5km away from home.
Prominent among those at the meeting was the Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Vu Thi Thu Thuy.
In 5 year from 2007 to 2011, the Quang Ninh’s Children Sponsorship Fund offered direct support to nearly 13,500 children in especially difficult circumstances with the total amount of VND 8.6 billion.
In 2011, the Fund spent over VND 600 million supporting 1,473 children via many charity programs such as congenital heart surgery; screening and surgery for children with eye defects, movement defects, cleft lip, cleft palate; bicycle donation program, warm clothes, pairs of lifebelts, scholarships, etc.
At the meeting, 100 scholarships worth VND 5 million were given away to children in especially difficult circumstances; 160 bikes were granted to children whose schools are at least 5 kilometers away from home; 100 pairs of lifebelts were presented to fishing village children, etc.
The Fund also received nearly VND 700 million donated by 123 organizations and individuals across the province.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman Vu Thi Thu Thuy lauded the donors, thanking them for their wonderful gesture and saying this was an extremely honorable thing to do. She also appraised the Fund which ensures that donated money is given to whoever needs them indeed.
The Vice Chairman also called upon the whole society to show concern for children, particularly those in especially difficult circumstances./.
