On Ha Long Bay, Me Cung Cave is one of the most attractive spots to tourists due to its outstanding historical, cultural and natural values. The cave is compared as a vivid “museum” storing many archeological evidences to be easily seen by tourists.
Prior their visit to the cave, tourists may have the information about the pre-Ha Long culture in new Stone Age around 7,000 to 10,000 years ago. Exploring the cave, tourists can see, even touch fossilized freshwater shell layers remain on the wall of the cave. Also, they will have chance to further understand about the home and earn-living methods of the pre-historic people.
The stone steps lead tourists to explore the cave inside the mountain. The most outstanding feature of Me Cung is big stone pillars formed by the development of the stalactites, stalagmites with the age ofthousands of years. Inside the cave, there is a system of spiral sparkling stones. The cave covers a quite larger area with various levels of height. Sometimes, tourists may feel lost in the heavently palace, somewhere they have to bend their knees to get through the narrow tunnels. Getting out of the cave, tourists can now enjoy fresh air and comfortable atmosphere in a big garden which then take them to the peak of the mountain to overlook the Me Cung lagoon. This is also a good point to have a panorama view of the area.
