Dutch online travel agency Booking.com has named Hanoi, home to Michelin-starred restaurants, among the five top culinary destinations in the Asia-Pacific based on readers’ votes.

"Hanoi is a culinary paradise with famous delicacies [and] unique dining experiences," it said.

In June three restaurants in the Vietnamese capital, Gia, Hibana by Koki and Tam were awarded a one-star rating by French food guide Michelin, boosting its reputation on the global food map.

Hibana by Koki at the Capella Hotel serves Japanese food with ingredients flown in twice a week from that country, Gia and Tam Vi serve northern Vietnamese cuisines.

The other four destinations in the list are Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, and Kaohsiung.

In addition to readers’ votes, factors such as fame as a destination, easy access for international tourists and rich cuisine and culture were also considered in compiling the list.
