Hai Ha district to foster ecotourism

On Aug. 14, Quang Ninh’s Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Thu Thuy, along with leaders of Tourism, Culture and Sports, and Transport Departments, made a site survey trip to Hai Ha district to inspect the tourism development of the locality.

As report, in the first 7 months of the year, Hai Ha district received over 50,000 tourist arrivals to Cai Chien island and some of the spiritual attractions, accounting 71% of the year’s plan. The tourism revenue was estimated at around VND15 billion.

Despite the increasing number of tourists to the district and positive changes in tourism development, Hai Ha has to deal with the limitations of tourism infrastructure, shortage of hi-quality services and human resources involved in tourism activities.

After her site survey to some of the attractions in Cai Chien island commune, and the ecotourism model at Quang Long commune, the Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Thu Thuy hailed Hai Ha’s positive results in developing tourism.

Accordingly, Hai Ha has great potential for not only marine tourism with many attractions, such as Cai Chien island, but also spiritutal tourism with a wide range of cultural ad historic relics, the Vice Chairwoman requested the People’s Committee of Hai Ha district to closely collaborate with other relevant sectors and provincial departments to further study and consider the development of ecotourism and community tourism in line with promoting traditional cultural values of the ethnic minorities while ensuring bio-diversity and sustainablility.

In addition, Hai Ha district needs to enhance investment attraction in developing tourism infrastructure.

"It is very important to effectively carry out the project on tourism development of Cai Chien island commune in term of 2016-2020 with the orientation to 2030; intensify the connection with Binh Lieu district and Mong Cai city. Especially, Hai Ha must pay much concerns with training human resource for tourism sector and raising the local people’s awareness of doing tourism business", said the Vice Chairwoman.
