On Jan. 2, Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee held a ceremony to announce the establishment of Ha Long Municipal Party’s Committee under the Provincial Party’s Committee.
The ceremony was attended by Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee Secretary, cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky, along with leaders of province, Ha Long City, and Hoanh Bo District.
According to Decision No. 1969-QĐ/TU dated Dec. 28th, 2019 issued by Quang Ninh Provincial Standing Party’s Committee, Ha Long Municipal Party’s Committee is established on the basis of merging Hoanh Bo District Party’s Committee into the former Ha Long Municipal Party’s Committee, under Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee.
Speaking at the ceremony, Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee Secretary, cum Chairman of Provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Xuan Ky affirmed that this event is a historical milestone of Quang Ninh in 2020. After merging Hoanh Bo District into Ha Long City, the new municipality is the largest provincial city nationwide in terms of the area (1,119km2) and administrative units (33 communes and wards) with a population of more than 300,000 people.
