According to the statistics of the Inland Waterway Port Authority (under Quang Ninh Transport Department), during the Ha Long-Quang Ninh Tourism Week 2012 (from April 24-May 2), Ha Long Bay received nearly 140,000 tourist arrivals, up 20% over the year 2011.
This increase results from the free entry offered by QNPPC with the aim of expressing their sincere gratitude to the people in Vietnam and all over the world who have supported and voted for Ha Long Bay as one of the new 7 natural wonders of the world.
During the Tourism Week this year, a wide range of attractive cultural, sport and tourism activities have been held. On this occasion, Ha Long Bay honorably received the certificate recognizing Ha Long Bay as the World Wonder of Nature. This brought a sudden increase in tourist arrivals to the Bay. On these daya, there was an average of almost 20,000 tourist arrivals to Ha Long Bay each day.
Accordingly, from April 24-May 2, tourist arrivals to Ha Long Bay reached 133,545 arrivals, including around 40,000 international arrivals. Notably, on the peak day, April 30, there were over 25 international arrivals to the Bay.
