On August 19, at Dai Yen ward in Ha Long city, the Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Quang Ninh Geriatric Hospital. This is the first provincial geriatric hospital in 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
Prominent among those at the meeting were Secretary of the Provincial Party’s Committee Nguyen Van Doc, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Xuan Ky, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party’s Committee cum Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Trinh Thi Minh Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Khang.
The Geriatric Hospital construction project was approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 4381/QD-UBND dated October 30, 2018 with the scale of 200 beds, the total investment of VND 429 billion and the implementation period of 02 years.
The Department of Health acts as the investor and the Provincial Department of Civil and Industrial Works is responsible for managing and supervising the project.
Situated on an area of about 4 hectares in Dai Yen ward, the Geriatric Hospital has a floor area of 16,000 square meters.
The project includes the main components serving various purposes such as medical examination, image diagnosis, treatment, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, adminitration, ancillary works, technology, and waste treatment.
The hospital will also be armed with high-quality medical staff and specialized equipments, ensuring the best care for patients, especially the elderly.
As planned, the project of Quang Ninh Geriatric Hospital will have been completed by the end of 2020 and will come into operation at the beginning of 2021.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Commitee Vu Thi Thu Thuy highlighted the significant role of the hospital in enhancing residents’ healthcare conditions and living standards.
She asked the relevant departments to promote close cooperation so as to achieve great success in implementing the project.
