Groundbreaking ceremony for Uong Bi golf course project

On June 16, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Uong Bi city to officially launch the Uong Bi Golf Course Project. Prominent among those were Deputy Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, Vu Quyet Tien, and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Nghiem Xuan Cuong.

Developed by Ha Long Bay Golf Investment JSC, the golf course will cover 140 hectares and feature 36 holes, with a total investment of nearly VND 2,000 billion. Located in the Yen Trung Lake area, spanning Phuong Dong Ward and the future Yen Tu Ward, the project will be implemented in three phases. The first 18 holes are expected to be completed and operational within 18 months, and the entire project is set to be finished within 46 months.

This launching of the project marks an important step forward in Uong Bi’s efforts to expand its tourism and sports service offerings, while also contributing to the socio-economic growth of Quang Ninh province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nghiem Xuan Cuong emphasized that the golf course will serve as a new tourism product, appealing to both domestic and international travelers. It is expected to create new employment opportunities for local residents and help the province reach its goal of double-digit economic growth by 2025.

He affirmed that the provincial government would actively support and facilitate the implementation of the project. At the same time, he called on the investor to strictly comply with legal regulations on investment, construction, land management, and environmental protection. The project should also apply advanced, eco-friendly technologies and establish connections with surrounding tourist attractions to create integrated and high-value tourism experiences.

Thanks to its diverse terrain and natural beauty, Quang Ninh holds great potential for developing world-class golf courses. These courses, each offering distinctive landscapes, will enhance the region’s appeal, particularly among high-end travelers, and make golf tourism a key pillar of the province’s tourism sector.

According to Quang Ninh’s provincial master plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the province aims to develop 22 golf courses, reinforcing its position as a dynamic and sustainable tourism destination.

Once completed, the Uong Bi golf course will become a signature highlight in terms of landscape architecture, attracting visitors not only for its golf facilities but also for its scenic beauty and recreational value. 

It is expected to boost tourism, services, sports, and overall economic development in Uong Bi and the wider Quang Ninh region.
