Gherman Titov statue to be built in Ha Long Bay

On Mar. 28, in Ha Long city, Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party's Committee Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with a delegation of the Central Vietnam-Russian Friendship Association led by its head Mr. Dao Trong Thi regarding the project building a statue of the Soviet cosmonaut Gherman Titov on Titov island, Ha Long city.

After studying the plan, the Vietnam-Russian Association proposed to build Ghecman Titov statue on the Titov island. Accordingly, the 7-bln statue of stone will be made with an area of 106 km2. As scheduled, this work will be done in September 11, on the occasion of Titov's 79th birthday.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh stressed that this work symbolizes the friendship between Vietnam and Russia. Therefore, Quang Ninh province highly appreciates and strongly supports this proposal. Chinh said that the Quang Ninh will provide the investors with the best condition for their project implementation.

He assigned Quang Ninh Department of Cultures, Sports and Tourism; Construction Department and Ha Long Bay Management Board to closely collaborate with the Vietnam-Russia Association to draw the master design of the work so that it would become not only a cultural building but also a tourism product in Ha Long Bay.
