Forty-four new COVID-19 cases bring national tally to 8,791

The Ministry of Health confirmed 44 new locally-transmitted cases of COVID-19 on Monday morning, raising the national caseload to 8,791.

The latest patients were documented in Bac Giang (24), Ho Chi Minh City (12)Bac Ninh (six), and Ha Nam (two).

The fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence, which broke out in Viet Nam on Apirl 27, has spread to 39 out of 63 cities and provinces, with 5,665 positive cases.

Four of the localities, namely Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ha Noi are the biggest hotspots with 4,872 cases.

Meanwhile, 15 localities, namely Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Dak Lak, Nam Dinh, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Son La and Ninh Binh have gone 14 days without new cases.

The nation has collected and tested 1,645,926 samples over the reviewed period.
