As previously reported, Quang Ninh plans to build some icons at intersections and sightseeing spots to view Ha Long Bay from above, which have recently been proposed to the QNPPC for approval. Of which, a national flag symbol and a balcony system on the top of Bai Tho mountain will create an open space for locals and visitors to overlook Ha Long Bay from above.
With the idea of building the national flag symbol on BaiTho mountain, architect Salvador Perez Arroyo, who designed some iconic buildings of Ha Long city, such as Quang Ninh Provincial Museum and Library; Quang Ninh Planning and Expo Center; Clock Tower, a large balcony floor reaching out to the sea and natural landscape will be built, creating a large open space for visitors to enjoy a beautiful view of Ha Long Bay.
As designed, with an estimated floor area of 960m2, surface area of 2,550m2, the 50m high flag symbol will be built on the Bai Tho mountain. A system of elevator will also be installed to takes visitors to the balcony. It is expected to be an architectural icon building with its own identity and reputation like other icon buildings in many other countries, namely "Statue of Liberty" in New York City (USA) or "Atomium" in Brussels (Belgium), etc.
Despite being not the highest mountain in Ha Long city, Bai Tho mountain peak is considered as one of the most beautiful places to admire and take photos of Ha Long Bay. From the top of the mountain, visitors can have a panoramic view of Bai Chay Bridge, Sun World Halong Park, Ha Long city and tourist boats on Ha Long Bay ... Besides, Bai Tho mountain is also an ideal cultural attraction with the highlight of the poem by King Le Thanh Tong carved on the cliffs.
Climbing to the top of Bai Tho mountain is an amazing experience of many tourists coming to Ha Long City. At the bottom of Bai Tho Mountain, Long Tien Pagoda, built in 1941, is the largest pagoda in Ha Long City, attracting a large amount of local people and visitors each year, especially in early spring festivals.
From Tran Quoc Nghien temple, visitors can follow the road to the Bai Tho Mountain Cultural Site, which was built to honor the historical values of famous people and scholars who devoted all their life and worked in Quang Ninh. Completed in 2013, Bai Tho Mountain Cultural Site has both ancient and modern architectural features with the airy green space so that visitors could admire the whole panorama of Ha Long City in a flash and view Ha Long Bay from above.
