Exploring wild nature on the journey to Bai Tu Long Bay, enjoying fresh air, visiting primeval forest and seeing rare flora and fauna species are wonderful experiences that visitors may have when travelling to Ba Mun island.
Considered as a solid wall to protect Van Don, Ba Mun island with high hills and mountains is located within the area of Bai Tu Long Bay, covering an area of 1,800 ha and more than 20 km in length. About 15 km from the shore, it takes over one hour from Cai Rong Port to Ba Mun, one of the most beautiful island clusters in Bai Tu Long Bay.
There are two routes that tourists can choose to discover flora and fauna system on Ba Mun island. It is highly recommended to explore Ba Mun island from the ranger station at Van Lau. Going through pristine forests, visitors can have up-close look at rare and precious plants and some forest animals such as Asian Golden Cats, muntjacs, forest pigs, monkeys, squirrels, porcupines etc. To the east of the island, visitors can travel around famous tourist spots, for instance Danh Temple, moon-shaped rock field, Di islet, viewing waves on the immense green bay. This 8km long itinerary takes around 3-4 hours to go for a walk.
The second 5km long itinerary takes around 2-3 hours to go for a walk, saving time and ensuring good health for tourists. From La Che Valley to Cai Cong area, visitors have a chance to see some rare species of flora such as Himalayan cedar bonsai trees, mangrove trees, fresh water streams which are favorite habitats of species such as turtles, otters etc.
Exploring Ba Mun is gradually easier when tourist routes and tours are being approved by relevant authorities and agencies. Infrastructures are being invested to welcome visitors to the island.
