On 27-2 afternoon, the Steering Committee of Environmental Management Technical Assistance Project on environmental protection of Ha Long Bay organized a workshop to assess "pilot project for the construction of eco-label for tourist boats on Ha Long Bay ".
At the workshop, the representative of the consulting unit, Vietnam Institute for Sustainable Marine Tourism has presented the results of pilot project to build eco-label for tourist boats on Ha Long Bay. Accordingly, based on the environmental impact assessment of the tourist boats on Ha Long Bay ; studying of legislative documents on environmental protection; and piloting environmental protection procedures at a number of companies running tourist boats on the Bay etc, the Institute has built a set of criteria for eco-label (called “green sails”) for tourist boats on the Bay.
A tourist boat on the Bay is granted "green sails” eco-label , it means that they have made efforts in environmental protection, effectively used resources and energy, particularly oriented to a sustainable tourism development and environmental protection of Ha Long Bay.
Also at the workshop, participants highly appreciated the consulting unit who has given criteria of "green sails" eco-label for tourist boats on Ha Long Bay, as well as suggested the survey and application of eco-label for boats operating in Ha Long bay.
