In recent years, Ha Long City People’s Committee has paid special attention to environmental protection and asked organizations and enterprises as the investors of resorts and hotels to strictly comply with legal regulations on environmental protection.

In particular, the city has invested in drainage and wastewater treatment projects. It is expected that from Jan.2019 to Dec.2021, 4 packages including 3 wastewater treatment plants and sewage treatment pipeline in the wards of Ha Khau, Ha Phong and Ha Khanh, would be constructed.

According to the leaders of the Division of Natural Resources and Environment, Ha Long City has installed 629 waste bins on main streets and assigned the wards to strictly treat violations. Besides, the movement “All people join hands to clean up the environment for a green Ha Long city” has been maintained on every Sunday.

In some wards as key tourist areas, environmental protection is one of the important tasks. Bai Chay and Tuan Chau wards are good examples for environmental protection because locals there actively participate in cleaning the streets, removing illegal dumps, expanding roads, ensuring a green - clean - beautiful urban beauty.

With the aim of turning Ha Long into a tourist center of the region, Ha Long City’s People’s Committee has proposed Quang Ninh Province to implement an action program towards a green, clean and civilized Ha Long City like Singapore. The program is being reviewed and approved by Quang Ninh People’s Committee for the implementation. Therefore, more efficient solutions have been offered to improve sanitation and urban environment conditions.
