This morning, Quang Ninh province and Clipper Ventures officially signed a cooperative agreement which states that Quang Ninh will send a team to take part in the Clipper Round the World in the UK in September, 2019 and become one of the hosting destinations in 2021-2022.
As a prestigeous yatch race, Clipper Race has been held for more than 20 years by UK-based Clipper Ventures. The around-the-world race, stopping by huge ports at well-known cities worldwide, lasts 12 months with the attendance of about 70 clippers. The minimum length of the whole race is 35 thousand miles.
Quang Ninh will officially join the partnership of the race in the 2019-2020 season. The province’s team will operate a yatch and wear uniform labeled the name “Halong Bay - Vietnam” and the images of Halong Bay and Quang Ninh province.
As planned, on September 2nd, 2019 all the teams of the 2019-2020 season will start from London (UK) and take eight routes acrossing famous cities such as Portimao in Portugal, Seattle in the USA, Panama in the Atlantic Ocean, etc. Hundreds of clippers including famous businessmen and celebrities from various countries and continents will take part in this race.
“By partaking in this race, we would like to introduce to friends worldwide about Ha Long, Quang Ninh and Vietnam as a destination worth visiting, experiencing and living in.. Welcome all of you!”, Mrs. Vu Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee said.
In the 2021-2022 season, apart from its participation, Halong Bay - Quang Ninh will become one of the Clipper Race destinations. This is considered a new chance for Quang Ninh in particular and Vietnam in general to continue promoting their images on a global scale as well as lure more investment in high-end tourism.
