According the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, in the first 6 months of 2019, tourism activities and services have seen a comprehensive growth. Total number of tourist arrivals to Quang Ninh was estimated at 8.55 mil, equal to 61% of its plan, a year on year increase 14%. Total revenue from tourism reached nearly 16 tril VND, an increase of 25% over the same period last year.
Particularly, Ha Long City has become the most popular destination for tourists. Total number of tourist arrivals to the city was 5.5 mil, a 19% year on year increase, including 2.1 mil international arrivals, bringing a revenue of nearly 11 tril VND.
It can be said that a great number of tourist arrivals to Quang Ninh in general and Ha Long City in particular in the first 6 months of 2019 is resulted from a positive effect of the key projects which were inaugurated and put into use in late 2018 and in early 2019, such as Bach Dang Bridge, Ha Long - Hai Phong highway connecting with Hanoi - Hai Phong highway, Van Don international airport, Ha Long international cruise port, Ha Long - Van Don highway, FLC Ha Long eco-tourism resort etc.
Besides, tourism promotion and marketing activities of the province and localities in both domestic and international markets has been enhanced. Especially, tourism business environment has been much improved. The service quality has been increased. Accommodation facilities and tourist boats have been better managed. Special attention has been given to order security and traffic safety at tourist sites
With satisfactory results, Quang Ninh’s goal of receiving 14 mil tourist arrivals in 2019 is feasible. To be more attractive to tourists, Quang Ninh has been building and developing new and unique tourism products that better meet domestic and international tourists’ increasing demands. Specifically, a series of new tourism products are being piloted, such as operation of luxury yachts, contemplate night scenery shows on Ha Long Bay, exploring Ha Long Bay's flora and fauna reserve on Soi Sim Island; discovering Quan Lan island tour etc.
The positive results achieved in the first 6 months of 2019 and prospects in the fields of tourism and services have obviously proved the province’s appropriate solutions to improve the quality efficiency of services, thus affirming Ha Long - Quang Ninh’s unique tourist brand name and position in regional and global tourism maps.
