On May 10, in Ha Long city, Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has collaborated with the National Commission of Vietnam for UNESCO (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training to organize a competition to learn about UNESCO for high schools.
The competition attracted the participation of 15 teams representing for 15 high schools in the towns and cities adjacent to the Ha Long Bay Natural World Heritage site, including Ha Long Senior High School for Gifted Students, Ethnic Minority Boarding School, and a number of high schools, namely Hon Gai, Bai Chay, Ngo Quyen, Vu Van Hieu, Van Lang, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Ha Long, Le THanh Tong, Cam Pha, Le Quy Don, Le Hong Phong, Uong Bi and Dong Thanh schools. The contestants participated in 2 rounds answering questions related to UNESCO and its activities in Vietnam and in Quang Ninh.
The final result is that Vu Van Hieu team won the first prize; Uong Bi and Le Hong Phong schools’ teams jointly won the second ones, and the third prize belongs to Nguyen Binh Khiem and Dong Thanh schools.
The competition is one of the activities to celebrate the 57th anniversary of the National Commission of Vietnam for UNESCO (June, 15 1977). This is a good opportunity for students of the high schools in surrounding areas of the Ha Long Bay Natural World Heritage site to exchange understanding and enrich their knowledge of the UNESCO contributing to the preservation of national and universal cultural values of Vietnam.
