As a move towards the target for turning Co To island into a national eco-resort area, young people in this district have become pioneers in protecting the environment and keeping the sea and the island green, clean and beautiful.
The Youth Union of Co To island has carried out the project on limiting the amount of nylon bags used on the island since 2018. Its members have fully informed locals and tourists of the negative impacts of nylon bags on the environment and provided local households with thousands of plastic handbaskets or paper bags which they can bring to the market to carry food home.
In addition, youngsters regularly take part in campaigns on cleaning up the environment, collect rubbish on beaches on every Sunday and pay much attention to the sanitation of their living areas every day.
These activities play a significant role in keeping up the island’s beautiful image in the eyes of tourists, contributing to building this island into a national eco-resort area in the near future.
