Co To fosters tourism development

On May 9, an inspection group headed by Quang Ninh's Vice Chairwoman Vu Thi Thu Thuy conducted an inspection of the bussiness climate and tourism activities in Co To district.

As reported, in 2016, Co To district undertook various measures to foster tourism development, namely: promoting the local tourism on media and social networks, intensifying investment in tourism and transport infrastructure; ensuring safety for visitors, etc.

The District also established the Co To Tourism Association with the participation of nearly 80 members. In addition, the Code of Conduct for Tourism in Co To was issued. Especially, Co To has completed documentation of the 3 tourism routes and 2 attractions to be submitted for recognition. Clear land and business climate were also ensured to allure investments into the district.

With its efforts, Co To tourism gained possitive results in the previous year. According to the local statistics, Co To welcomed nearly 300,000 tourist arrivals in 2016, up 166.7% against 2015, including 676 international arrivals. In the first 4 months of 2017, the district received over 32,000 tourist arrivals with 542 international arrivals.

Speaking with Coto's leaders at the working session, Mrs. Vu Thi Thu Thuy hailed achievements that Co To has gained over the recent years. She also asked Coto's leaders to strictly implement the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee's conclusions in developing tourism and stressed that: "Co To should make the most of its adavantages and potential to have breakthroughs in tourism development. In addition, security, safety and environmental sanitation for tourists are also needed to be concerned".

Quang Ninh's Vice Chairwoman agreed with some of the proposals by Coto's leaders. Accordingly, she agreed to open training courses for the Coto's staff members working in tourism sector, and requested the Dstrict People's Committee to work with the Quang Ninh State Bank to invite other banks to open their branches in the district.

She also advised the district to implement robust measures to call for investors, controll prices  as well as offering incentives on prices for the locals.

During her visit to Co To, Quang Ninh Vice Chairwoman took a visit to Ho Chi Minh President relic, and inspected some of the tourist attractions, accomodations and piers in Co To.
