Cam Pha town has now become Cam Pha city following the government’s Resolution No. 04/NQ-CP. A ceremony was held in the Cam Pha Central Stadium on April 18 to celebrate the event, to receive the Government’s Emulation Flag and to commemorate 57th anniversary of liberation day of Cam Pha Mining Area.The State Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Doan granted the Governmnent's Resolution to Cam Pha leaders.
Prominent among those were the Vietnamese State Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Doan, Deputy Head of the CPVCC Commission for Organization Nguyen Van Quynh, Deputy Secretary of Quang Ninh Party Committee Do Thi Hoang, Chairman of Quang Ninh PPC Nguyen Van Doc.
The newly-established city of Cam Pha has a total land area of 48,645 hectare, a population of 195,800 and 16 wards and communes including Quang Hanh, Cam Thach, Cam Thuy, Cam Trung, Cam Thanh, Cam Binh, Cam Tay, Cam Dong, Cam Son, Cam Thu, Cam Thinh, Cua Ong, Mong Duong, Duong Huy, Cong Hoa and Cam Hai.
Cam Pha city will act as an urban center in the North East of Quang Ninh province, specializing in coal industry, seaport, thermo-electricity, cement, trade, service and tourism.
Besides, the city will play an important role in national defense and serve as a significant hub for transport and exchanges between Quang Ninh and northern coastal provinces.
As planned, industry and construction will reach 73.5% of the city’s economic structure while trade and service, 25.1% and agro-forestry and fishery 1.4%.
Speaking at the ceremony, the State Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Doan praised the Party Committee and Government of Cam Pha city for their competent management and lauded the people for their positive contribution to the socio-economic development.
She also asked the city to effectively mobilize all resources to transform into a national and provincial model city. The city should give more priority to the development of marine economy, promote tourism activities, develop human resources and ensure social welfare.
Especially, she urged the city to draw up plans to develop worker class, promote “study and follow the Ho Chi Minh’s moral example” campaign to have greater mining worker force, in terms of both quantity and quality.
On the occasion, Cam Pha leaders and people were awarded the Government’s Emulation Flag for their excellent achievements in 2011./.
