On November 19, the opening ceremony of the Asia - Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards (APICTA) was held in Ha Long city. The event was organized by Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) associated with Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee.
As a member of APICTA since 2016, this is the first time Vietnam has hosted the APICTA which is held annually and alternately in 16 APICTA member countries under the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance, who has outstanding IT products, services and software solutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dang Huy Hau emphasized that, IT appliance is always determined to be important fundamentals and resource for a rapid and sustainable growth of QuangNinh. Currently, the province has been implementing e-government projects, building a smart city and digital governmentmodel.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hoped that hosting the APICTA 2019 Award will be a good opportunity for Quang Ninh to access domestic and international technological achievements, thereby promoting the IT application in management and economic development, thereby, contributing to enhancing trade promotion, attracting investment, promoting tourism, cultural characteristics and socio-economic achievements in general as well as the IT results in particular to the world.
As part of the 2019 APICTA Awards, an international conference on digital transformation and smart cities is scheduled to be held on November 20. In addition, there are many other interesting goings-on, such as an exchange program for Vietnamese and International IT students, Vietnam Culture Night, and many sightseeing tours offer to delegates to explore the well-known attractions in Ha Long city.
The 4-day Ha Long APICTA 2019 attracts the participation of nearly 1,000 delegates from 17 APICTA member organizations. This year's award has 324 nominations in 10 fields and categories, of which Vietnam has 46 nominations, accounting for 14.5% of the total nominations for the Award.
